She sounds awful but not atypical. This kind of idiot thrives in academic spaces where wypipo always too afraid to speak up about anything race related because they are racist. They just want to be perceived as virtuous.

Really well argued and written piece. This woman is engaged in an elaborate con game. Whether she believes everything she says or none of it, she’s making a good profit (and harming innocent people, as you discuss) by dividing others, spreading lies, and hiding behind her status as a member of as many protected identity groups as she can shoehorn herself into. This is not therapeutic to anybody, but it is for her bank account. This is the same grift that the founders of BLM and others engage in, selling hate under the camouflage of “anti-racism”. The reason she doesn’t discuss real oppression, as you rightly point out, is not only does it not fit the simpleton’s false paradigm of white=bad, more melanin=good, but she can’t get paid to talk about it. The fact that this charlatan can get this kind of attention is a symptomatic manifestation of the white guilt psychopathology of the Left in the West. Listening to idiots is not a good survival strategy. It would be unbelievable that this person is given a university platform from which to spread hatred if we didn’t see thousands of examples of the same phenomenon every day.

Excellent article. Horrifying content. I can understand individuals that have become radicalised or lost the plot. But it’s hard to believe these nutcases are being platformed.

… To add, therapists are being trained to be activists and social justice warriors now! It’s pretty terrifying to think that young budding psychologists are being instructed to consider the colour of someone’s skin, their sex, sexuality etc as what defines them over and above doing a comprehensive assessment of their symptoms, family of origin, relationships etc. No it’s, “you’re depressed? Huh, must be because you’re a woman, oh, and you’re queer too, so you’re oppressed and that’s why you’re depressed.” Couldn’t make this s*** up!

thank you for writing this....... it is unfortunate that she has continually dug herself in deeper and deeper...she will not take any accountability and in fact her communications, newsletters etc have become more and more antisemetic.. it makes one wonder does she really care about Palestinians or does she just hate jews.....fair question.

thanks again

Very informative and just another reason I thank G-D that my children are way past college age. What a cesspool our colleges have become.

I read about this when it happened - it’s like something out of the Twilight Zone. I’m a practicing psychologist in Australia, and although I was shocked by what I read about this travesty of a DBT therapist, I was not surprised. The long march through the institutions of progressivism has infiltrated each and every one of them. What we’re seeing was born out of Postmodernism, which gave rise to Critical Theory - e.g., Judith Butler, Kimberle Crenshaw, bell hooks etc. Whilst many of the postmodernists viewed their own work as purely theoretical, these zealots ran with the ideas and took them mainstream bit by bit. It was on the back of the civil rights movement and the rise of feminism I believe - these movements had been pretty successful, but that wasn’t enough for the activist class, “hmm”, they thought “none of this has achieved enough, we need to create more drama to protest against”. (That’s the shorthand version). And here we are with the Critical Social Justice movement. I find it unbelievable as I did a BA in the early 1990s with a focus on postmodernism etc and it mostly seemed like intellectual wankery that most people wouldn’t take seriously unless they enjoyed tying their brain in knots!!!

Anyway, the field of psychology was never going to dodge this bullet - it’s evident in the trans movement where here in Australia, you can be in trouble, perhaps even struck off, for not delivering gender affirming care, which is shorthand for completely agreeing with the client and not exploring what else might be going on with their dysphoria. I choose not to work with that client group for this reason - a therapist needs to be able to work in nuance.

The case in point is despicable and I’m pleased to hear there is some backlash. Nothing from the anti-racist movement has led to greater harmony, it’s successfully fostered greater division. Robin Di Angelo is a grifter and Ibram X Kendi has a messiah complex. Both probably NPD if you ask me.

I read a great collection of essays about the woke infiltration in the UK - ‘Cynical Therapies, Perspectives on the Antitherapeutic Nature of Critical Social Justice’, Dr Val Thomas (borrowed from Lindsey & Pluckrose, ‘Critical Theories’). Well worth a read if the therapy field is of interest.

Holy moly you nailed it on the head! Yes, the content if the article is terrifying when you realize this isn't unique to one profession.

Nervgal you have so perfectly summarized the failure of thought that is being peddled as 'the work'. I just left the education field in San Francisco, and this is everywhere.

Politicians are completely bought in, which is why lawsuits have not already hampered 'antiracism'. This will change very soon, so long as you keep writing, and people read and share. You are doing incredible work.

I find it odd that people like Dr. Edmond refer to Israel as “white” when the average visitor can’t tell an Israeli Jew from an Israeli Arab (20% of the citizens.) It’s more than odd that she includes the 150,000+ Ethiopian/Israelis among “racist Zionists”.

I disagree with you. The reason why people are focusing on Palestine and Israel is because our tax dollars are directly financing this genocide, unlike the other genocides and horrible global situations you mentioned.

I want to write in support of Dr. Nathalie Edmond. She is an innovative, brilliant and dedicated advocate for racial justice and women in multiple settings, such as group practices, yoga studios, school districts, churches, activism groups, universities, nonprofits, small businesses, educational training programs, book groups, and virtual settings such as teleconferences and through her websites. Her most extraordinary achievements are her antiracism work that is rooted in her background in trauma psychology, yoga, and mindfulness meditation. She has given several excellent and engaging presentations to our youth and community. Wherever she is, Dr. Edmond is a powerful force for positive change.

I am not alone in thinking this.

"Nathalie is trusted; she is fair; she models accountability and draws out the better truths of each of us."

"Nathalie is a sophisticated clinician with a wide range of expertise in multiple modalities. Not only does she have a firm grounding in psychodynamic psychotherapy, she also brings extensive training and experience in DBT, and sensorimotor approaches. She uses these techniques seamlessly with her clients. She is especially adept and knowledgeable in working with trauma, and has helped countless clients with her sensitive, compassionate, and grounded approach.

Nathalie is an excellent speaker and teacher. She is adept and translating difficult concepts into language that everyone can understand, and she connects well with participants to make them feel understood. She is also an excellent supervisor. She can intuit what her supervisees need to further the development of their skills, and uses her skills as a teacher to help them on their path."

Nathalie is speaking out bravely for the oppressed and marginalized and has made courageous attempts to bridge the gap with those who disagree with her, which are not noted in this post.

Stop the character assassination and instead try listening to the Palestinian people.

Typical arrogant progressive with your moral superiority, assuming Jews with ties to the Middle East “haven’t heard the Palestinian side.” Grow up. We understand the situation is horrible, and we wish it didn’t have to be this way, but Arabs are just as much to blame, most of all Hamas, for the horrors of the war. Go back to cheerleading for terrorists.
